Hi I’m Audrey! My dream is to see families of all backgrounds and budgets to live intentional, healthy and joyful lives! All for the greater glory of God!
I’m a devout traditional Catholic, traditional food, holistic health and nature enthusiast! Research junky, DIYer, homeschooler, minimalist and hygge fanatic, mom of 3, and happy wife to my better half! Some fun facts about me: I’m the oldest of a family of 11. My top 5(who can choose only one?!) favorite books are The Lord of the Rings series,( which counts as one, ackhem) The Robe, The Family That Overtook Christ, Imitation of Christ, and the Laura Ingalls Series…what..that counts as one also. My favorite movie will probably have to be The Sound of Music. I love singing, but unfortunately, try as I may, I do not have the voice to back me up. The last thing I ever thought I would be when I grew up was a blogger. I have a love/hate relationship with technology, so blogging..on a computer…meh. I’m also a pretty private person when it comes to social media/internet. Well at least I used to be.
Moving on to Bright Coppered Kettles. Like I said, I never thought I’d be a blogger. In 2014 the idea first came to me, though. I quickly wrote it off as I thought “everything I have to say, someone else has already said, and probably said it better.” In 2015, it came up again as we moved to a small acreage. Same thoughts resurfaced. As well as being sure I didn’t want to focus my time away from my children. (I was and am still learning about this mothee thing. Also that’s not a typo, my 4yo calls me mothee(pronounced mah-thee) and I happen to adore it.) Then a year ago the idea wouldn’t leave me alone.
About 6 months ago is when it started. Hello, my name is Audrey, and I can’t stop writing. I started writing posts as I fell asleep, as I drove, when I woke up. Once I became aware of this “illness”, I thought, “Okay God, I’m actually really happy being a “nobody” in society.. I’m blessed to be a stay at home mom. Lots of mothers would love to and aren’t able. Yet here I am, living it up, getting 6 hours of interrupted sleep every night and intruded upon every time I try to sneak some of my fair trade chocolate that is just much too good for children. Kidding. But I do love my “job” here at home. Yet these posts wouldn’t stop writing themselves. So then I started thinking. or listening rather. And this is what I thought..or heard? There might be a lot of writers that may say similar things that you might write about. Many of which that have touched and helped you. But they don’t say everything you would say. And even if they would be saying all the same things…can there be too many people speaking the truth? Ahhh I thought…you got me there. Can there be too much truth in this world. Is there someone out there I can help, that nobody else could reach? Alright then, Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace. Now I ask you, whom ever you are that has chanced across my page, to fight the good fight with me. There are lots of places to find despairing news today. My site, and my home however, will be a place to remind us of the good in our world. A place of faith, hope, love, intention and light. How to help the world and all the dear souls that our Lord wants so badly for His own. And since so many people do say it better than me. I’ll end with my favorite quotes.
Whoever thinks one person can’t make a difference has never been in a room with a mosquito. – African Proverb
Every soul that perfects itself elevates the world.
Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire. -St. Catherine of Siena
Give me an army saying the Rosary and I will conquer the world. -Pope Blessed Pius IX
When you say your Rosary, the angels rejoice, the Blessed Trinity delights in it, my Son finds joy in it too, and I myself am happier than you can possibly guess. After the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, there is nothing in the Church that I love as much as the Rosary.
Our Lady to Blessed Alan de la Roche
Well folks, now you know, that is me in all my sincerity. I truly hope to offer some help and light in your world, if I am able. I am not perfect nor do I pretend to be. I do however strive for Christ like perfection. And my posts aren’t based on my perfection, but rather the perfection I strive for, what I believe is a God based perfection. Which is the ultimate standard…obviously. In simple, yet beautiful living. In perfecting attitudes, marriages, mothers, fathers, and diets I hope you come along and learn with me!
